George Hotz, who was raised in Glen Rock, turns 25 on Friday.
Hotz, an American hacker, was born Oct. 2, 1989.
At age 17, Hotz announced that he’d become the first person to ever carrier-unlock an iPhone.
An alumni of John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth and Carnegie Mellon University, Hotz also is notorious for his role in reverse-engineering the PlayStation 3 video game console and subsequent lawsuit by Sony.
Hotz went on to work for companies such as Facebook and Google.
